Mission Statement We,
the Emergency Support Team, state our commitment to better the Washington University
community.
By responding twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, we
will, without compensation, contribute to the protection and promotion of general
well being on our campus. In addition to our daily services, we will educate individuals
and groups in CPR and Standard First Aid to increase effective handling of accidental
injuries or sudden onset illnesses. In the event of a campus disaster, we will
install a central medical response station.
We understand that our privilege
to serve Washington University in the above ways results from respect and trust
granted to us by that community. As a result, we, as individual members of the
Team, will embody certain ideals that preserve our reputation as an organization.
We will maintain the dignity and confidentiality of any and all persons who become
our patients. We will, at all times, be mindful that our conduct reflects on the
perceived competence of the entire Team. We will demonstrate dedication towards
EST's cause through membership opportunities. We will, within the team, recognize
and appreciate diverse styles of leadership and encourage the development of a
confident and compassionate presence in all medics. Finally, we will fuel the
future growth of our Team by seeking to recruit individuals with such ideals in
the most fair and unbiased way possible.
Ultimately, in keeping with the
vision of past members who created and evolved the organization we now represent,
we will seek to expand and perpetuate a unified campus population in which students
actively and voluntarily help fellow students.
